Giandomenico Basso (Hyundai New Generation i20 R5 - BRC Racing Team) leads Tour European Rally round 3 - Rali Vinho da Madeira after SS1

The italian crew of Giandomenico Basso - Lorenzo Granai (Hyundai) lead the 2017 TER - Tour European Rally round 3 - Rali Vinho da Madeira - after setting fastest time at the opening stage of Avenida do Mar in Funchal. 

The locals Miguel Nunes - João Paulo, in a sister car, were second fastest amongst the crews registered in the new concept of rally series, ahead of the Citroen DS3 of 2016 JWRC and TER winner Simone Tempestini - Giovanni Bernacchini.

Joachim Wagemans' Peugeot 208 was fastest amongst the TER2 Cup drivers, ahead of the similar car of Diogo Soares who was only 0.5" faster than Roland Stengg's Opel Adam.

In the TER Production Trophy, the 2016 class winner Filipe Pires set the best time with Jim van den Heuvelin second and Vasco Silva completing the podium.

The TER 2WD Trophy saw André Silva's Renault Clio fastest ahead of Paulo Moreira's Peugeot 208 and Alexendre Mata's Citroen C2.

The Rali Vinho da Madeira crews will be back in action tomorrow with the second special stage, Campo da Golfe 1, starting at 10:59 WEST.
