Diego Ruiloba always at the front of Rali Vinho da Madeira

Rali Vinho da Madeira is one section away from the end, but emotions are still running high in the event that has been on the road since last Thursday, 1st August. At the top of the standings is Diego Ruiloba at the wheel of a Citroën C3 Rally2. However, the Spaniard lost his lead during the morning and has a 3.6-second advantage over Alexandre Camacho, the author of a constantly evolving race with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. Armindo Araújo remains on the bottom step of the podium, but the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 driver has been below the pace he's shown so far and is joined by José Pedro Fontes, who won a stage with the Citroën C3 Rallly2 and is 4.1 seconds behind the leader of the Portuguese Rally Championship. Miguel Nunes, driving his usual Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, is fifth. Rui Jorge Fernandes is the leader on two-wheel drive

At the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally4, Rui Jorge Fernandes maintains his dominance among front-wheel drive users. The Auto Cam driver has a lead of more than a minute in the category. His rival in an identical car, Vasco Silva, had a puncture in Câmara de Lobos and is now third in this division, where he has fallen to fourth place. Among these competitors is Hugo Lopes, driving a Peugeot 208 Rally4.

Joachim Wagemans outstanding in RGT

Joachim Wagemans, who returned to Rali Vinho da Madeira this year with an Alpine A110 RGT, is, at this stage of the race, 8th overall in the event organised by Club Sports da Madeira. The Belgian driver has greatly extended his lead among the competitors with RGT cars and, near the end of the first round of Stage 2, has a lead of around two and a half minutes over Filipe Feitas, second in the group with a Porsche 991 GT3. The event's record winner has climbed to second place and is 6.3 seconds off the lead with two stages of the fourth section to go. Armindo Araújo, in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, is now third, 4.1 seconds behind the driver who overtook him this morning.

Hugo Lopes in the lead of Peugeot Rally Cup

Hugo Lopes is the leader of the Peugeot Rally Cup, a mono-brand competition that includes users of the French manufacturer's 208 Rally4 model, after completing the first special stage of the event organised by Club Sports da Madeira. The driver, who benefited from the retirements, both due to crashes, of Vítor Sá and Miguel Garcia, who until then had been ahead of him in the standings, has a lead of 48.0 seconds over Unai de la Dehesa. In third place is João Sousa from Madeira.

Rui Jorge Fernandes heads two-wheel drive

Hugo Lopes is next on the podium in another Peugeot 208 Rally4.

Alexandre Camacho is the best Madeiran

On his debut with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, Alexandre Camacho, third overall, is the best-placed Madeiran competitor in the 65th edition of the Rali Vinho Madeira, which has been on the road since yesterday and will conclude tomorrow, 3 August. Fourth place goes to Miguel Nunes, in his usual Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, followed by José Pedro Fontes, in a Citroën C3 Rally2, and Ricardo Teodósio in a Hyundai. Rali Vinho da Madeira returns to the road tomorrow for the third and final day of competition, when the caravan will make a double round through Câmara de Lobos, Ponta do Sol, Calheta and Rosário.
