Fighting for the top spots

Miguel Nunes heads to Rali da Madeira in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 with the goal of "achieving the best possible result. The race has a very well-composed field, and it will be very difficult to be in the top five. There are a handful of drivers capable of fighting for the win, and they will all also be dependent on so many factors: car performance, time, etc. We wanted to be in that fight for the top spots, but also with our championship in mind.

Our lead in the Regional is comfortable and won't limit us in terms of performance, so we can fight for the best possible result. If the race isn't going well, then we'll just be able to score points for the championship. The new rally schedule should have an additional stage on both Friday and Saturday. I agree with leaving Câmara de Lobos due to the population density on the timed section, which also caused us a lot of problems during reconnaissance."

Miguel Nunes is 44 years old and made his rally debut in 2005 with a Citroën C2. He frequently finished on the podium in 2007 and 2008 with a Peugeot 206 S1600 and achieved his first victory, at Calheta, in 2010. He was regional champion seven times: in 2010 with a Peugeot 207 S2000, in 2012 and 2014 in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, and in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024 in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. He won the Madeira Rally in 2020.
