To drive the best possible

Artur Quintal is tackling Rali da Madeira for the second time in an RC2 car, determined to “drive as well as possible”. “The group we’re in is very competitive and our car is less competitive than more recent models. Even so, we’ve been doing our best and have even been racing alongside rivals in newer cars. Our results aren’t what we’d hoped for and sometimes we’re a bit disappointed not to have done better. However, at Rali da Madeira there will be many more competitors in this category against whom we can measure ourselves. A place in the top ten would be excellent, but above all we want to enjoy the event and try to improve so that we can then apply what we’ve learnt to an even more competitive car.”
Quintal is 36 years old and made his rally debut in 2014 in a Toyota Starlet. He kept that car until 2016 and in 2017 drove a Citroën C2 R2. In the following years, he switched to a Peugeot 208 R2 and frequently finished among the top places in his class. In 2023 and 2024, he finished third twice in the Madeira two-wheel-drive championship with a Peugeot 208 Rally4. In 2025, the driver switched to a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo and, showing consistency, finished fifth in the Madeira Coral Rally Championship. So far this year, the driver has fluctuated between fourth and sixth place in the rounds already contested and took a podium finish in São Vicente.
