For 2026, Rali da Madeira championship retained the same number of rounds as the previous year—eight—and, building on past seasons, promised plenty of excitement and fierce battles for positions across the competitive field. The hopes of the archipelago's many rally fans were realized; after five events, the championship outcome remains wide open.

The season kicked off in March in Machico, where João Silva triumphed at the wheel of a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 following an intense duel with Miguel Nunes (Skoda Fabia RS Rally2) during the opening stages. A superior tire choice amidst changing weather conditions paved the way for a comfortable victory for Silva, followed by Nunes and Rui Jorge Fernandes, who secured the final spot on the podium early on in his Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo.

In April, the championship headed to Santana. João Silva took an early lead and quickly pulled away from Miguel Nunes after the latter made a mistake and suffered a puncture on the very first timed stage of Saturday. Rui Jorge Fernandes once again secured the final podium spot. In May, the "Regional" series moved to São Vicente, where Nunes reversed the trend of previous rounds by leading the pack throughout the event.

Silva managed to keep pace with his rival until the halfway point of the rally but ultimately fell far behind. Artur Quintal, driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, made the podium in an event where Rui J. Fernandes suffered a violent crash that jeopardized his participation in future rallies as well as the remainder of this 67th edition of Rali da Madeira.

June brought the championship "circus" to Ribeira Brava. Nunes took an early lead, but Silva ended up dominating the action on Saturday. The Toyota driver won, with the returning Miguel Caires—driving a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2—finishing second as his main challenger. Nunes rounded out the podium, finishing well behind the leaders.

The Calheta Rally took place just over three weeks ago. Miguel Nunes won comfortably ahead of runner-up Miguel Caires and third-placed Alexandre Camacho; the latter, driving a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, was closing the gap to the frontrunners. João Silva rolled his car during the event, while Filipe Freitas won two special stages in a Porsche 991 GT3.

Rali da Madeira will be the sixth round of the season, with the Funchal and Câmara de Lobos rallies (in September) and the Porto Santo rally (in November) still to come.
