Achieving a good result
Miguel Nunes starts Rali da Madeira with the goal of "trying to secure a good result, even though the championship is more important. We have what it takes to fight for the front-running positions, and our main focus will be on driving fast. I believe a good result for the regional championship will also mean a good result in the overall standings. Rali da Madeira is always very difficult, and the weather conditions can be decisive. You need a bit of luck in this event, where victory has slipped away from us several times. I must congratulate the organisers on the new format, which features very beautiful, mythical stages like Ribeiro Frio and Ponta do Pargo. The rally had become too short. "
The 45-year-old reigning regional champion made his rally debut in 2005 behind the wheel of a Citroën C2. He was a frequent podium finisher in 2007 and 2008 with a Peugeot 206 S1600 and claimed his first victory in Calheta in 2010. He has been crowned regional champion on eight occasions: in 2010 with a Peugeot 207 S2000; in 2012 and 2014 in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X; in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024 in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo; and in 2025 with the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 that he is driving this season. He won the Rally in 2020.
